What is it
Report
Chiropractic is a health care discipline, which emphasizes the inherent ability of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery.
Chiropractors focus on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the presentation and restoration of health.
In addition, Doctors of Chiropractic recognise the value and responsibility of working in cooperation with other health care practitioners when in the best interests of the client.

Who we see
Report
Many people visit a chiropractor either because they have an ache or pain (back pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain for example) that is interfering with their life in some way, they have had an accident, or because they have been referred by a friend who has noticed how much better they feel after having their spine checked.
There is no limit to who we accept for care beyond a desire to be well and healthy.
Chiropractic care is safe and effective and our Chiropractors are experienced and highly trained to adapt care to spines of all ages and stages in life.

Your questions
Report
Chiropractors look for and adjust joints that are not moving properly.
We call these joint problems a Subluxation.
Research done in recent years shows that our joints and muscles send messages to the part of our brain that coordinates our actions and recognizes where things are.
When these joints and muscles are not working properly, our brains ability to adapt to what is happening around us changes.
By improving joint mobility and muscle function, your brains ability to adapt also appears to improve.

Joanne Clifford: Jo's career as a chiropractor was instigated via her love for her horse, and realising that chiropractic could help with the side effects of riding.
I discovered chiropractic in my later teenage years.
As a teenager I spent every spare minute at the local stables looking after our horse and riding out with friends.
As time went on I began to suffer with back pain.
My parents took me to a local Chiropractor who explained he could help and there was no need to stop horse riding.
After a couple of sessions I was sold.
